Sawbridgeworth churches embrace new technology for Easter services

The wonders of new technology will ensure Easter services will go ahead for churches, despite congregations being forced to stay at home.

Great St Mary’s associate minister Rev Debbie Hoare has provided podcast services for church regulars on the last Sunday of Lent and on Palm Sunday, and is due to broadcast services online on Good Friday and Easter Sunday.

She said that much of the liturgy has been creatively adapted to suit an online format and has received “favourable feedback”, indicating that any kind of worship is appreciated in these worrying and restrictive times.

Rev Hoare said: “I have been making podcasts to enable the congregation to worship together but separately on a Sunday morning. I’ve also been posting links to resources for our new Facebook group, enabling us to continue to worship from home, along with prayers for our world and its people as we struggle to make sense of these life-changing events.

“I am thankful for new technological wonders that, when they work, enable me to work and communicate with others whilst staying indoors.”
