Bishop’s Stortford College is the first school in the town to become affiliated to the Royal British Legion.

A certificate to mark the link was presented to deputy head at the Maze Green Road campus, Chris Woodhouse, by Kathy Stanes, Bishop’s Stortford branch committee member for senior schools, and chairman Denise Hudson.

Youth membership is available to all young people between 12 to 18 years of age who support the work of The Royal British Legion.

As part of the programme they can train to be a youth standard bearer and take part in a national competition or join a legion band or become a majorette.

Youngsters can also help with Poppy Appeal collecting and Remembrance services and parades.
