Bishop's Stortford Community Church joins nationwide Covid-19 support network

The Community Church at the Charis Centre in Bishop's Stortford has joined a nationwide coronavirus community support group called YourNeighbour.org.

The network of over 1,000 churches from over 40 different denominations has established a national call centre which is open seven days a week from 9am to 5pm.

Spokesman for the Water Lane congregation Gareth McCormick said: "Through partnerships with local churches like us, it will be able to offer help and support ranging from prescription pick-ups and dog-walks, through to bereavement counselling, benefits advice, and mental health care."

YourNeighbour.org is an initiative by the Good Faith Foundation (GFF), a new charity to combat social exclusion by bringing people together. It is partnering with the Good Faith Partnership, a social consultancy which works with churches and government to respond to societal challenges.

In 2015, in the wake of the global refugee crisis, the partnership worked with the Home Office and churches to co-construct the Community Sponsorship Scheme which has seen over 500 refugees resettled by faith and community groups in the UK.
