Coronavirus: Down Hall Hotel at Hatfield Heath closes until at least May 1
Down Hall Hotel and Spa in Hatfield Heath has closed its doors to residential guests for at least five weeks.
In a message to clients, general manager Ken Flockhart said: "Following the advice from the UK Government on Monday March 23, we have sadly decided that the most responsible course of action is for us to temporarily close the hotel to all guests.
"Due to the unprecedented nature of this situation we are taking each day as it comes. However, currently we do not anticipate reopening until at least Friday May 1 and will not be accepting any bookings until this date."
Down Hall has 98 bedrooms. Those with existing reservations will be contacted by the hotel's customer services team to discuss options.
Down Hall is a popular wedding venue, but, during the current Covid-19 lockdown, marriages are banned.
Previously, in accordance with Government advice, the country house had closed its restaurant, bar, spa and gym but was offering enhanced room service to overnight guests.
