Traffic light problems cause gridlock for drivers in Bishop's Stortford

Problems with the phasing of traffic lights in Adderley Road have been blamed for gridlock in and around Jackson Square car park in Bishop’s Stortford.

Frustrated drivers were trapped inside the multi-storey on Friday afternoon last week (December 14).

A spokesman for East Herts Council, which runs the car park, explained: “We’re sorry for delays in exiting Jackson Square car park. It was caused by a phasing problem with the traffic lights in Adderley Road, which is being investigated by Herts County Council.

“We had to close the car park temporarily to clear the internal queues... We will maintain a management presence in the car park over the busy festive period to deal with any issues."

  • The RingGo cashless parking payment service will no longer be available in East Herts car parks from January 16 and will be taken over by Pay by Phone. For more details see www.paybyphone.co.uk
