£990,000 set to transform Bishop's Stortford Young People's Centre at Northgate End
Bishop's Stortford's youngest Hertfordshire county councillor has been pressing the authority to invest in the town's teenagers.
Conservative Alastair Ward-Booth, a 23-year-old trainee solicitor, was elected to serve the town's West division in May's local elections.
At a Hertfordshire County Council cabinet meeting on Monday June 21, he asked the member for children, young people and families, Cllr Teresa Heritage, to confirm what investments were being made to improve services.
Cllr Heritage replied by highlighting £990,000 which will transform the Bishop's Stortford Young People's Centre at Northgate End.
The project has been delayed by Covid-19 but will include a life skills training kitchen, an enhanced multi-purpose activity hall and refurbished music practice rooms.
Cllr Ward-Booth said: "I'm pleased that Cllr Heritage has confirmed that Hertfordshire County Council is delivering such a significant investment to improve the services available to young people in our town."
