The event, which was held at the pre-school in Vicerons Place, Thorley Park, raised £660 for the playgroup’s wish list fund – a pot of money that pays for new toys and equipment as and when they are needed.

Some 30 families flocked to the festive fayre on Saturday, and the event gave staff the chance to be reunited with some of their former pupils.

Manager Jean Palfreman said: “Some parents have older siblings of children who go here and it was nice to catch up with them.”

Visitors savoured yummy treats sold at a bake sale, and adults had a go at the bottle tombola. There was also a version for children, with ‘lucky bags’ filled with sweets and toys.

A raffle featured prizes donated by local businesses, and there were plenty of Christmassy games on stalls to keep children entertained.
