World Book Day: Taylor Wimpey North Thames invites Northgate Primary School pupils to its Stortford Fields development for storytelling sessions

One of the housebuilders on the Stortford Fields estate has helped children to develop a love of literature.

To celebrate World Book Day (Thursday March 6), Taylor Wimpey North Thames invited pupils from Northgate Primary School to its development off Hadham Road by hosting a storytelling session.

During the visit, which was organised in collaboration with the school’s PTA partnership lead Katie Homer, the children got comfy in the show home and enjoyed four engaging sessions with local storyteller Alex Shows, who brought the magic of books to life by igniting their imagination and immersing them in the world of popular tales.

World Book Day promotes reading for pleasure, whilst aiming to provide every child and young person with the opportunity to have a book of their own.

Louisa Layer, assistant head and head of reading at Northgate, said: “We are very fortunate to have enjoyed this memorable experience. Reading is a lifelong skill and one that should be enjoyed by all. One of our main aims as teachers is to ignite learning and promote reading.”

Rozita Gharavi, sales manager at Taylor Wimpey North Thames, said: “World Book Day is an amazing initiative which encourages children in different communities across the country to follow in the steps of their beloved fictional characters and hone their reading skills. We’re always proud to support the campaign and were delighted to invite the children from Northgate to visit us for a fun-filled fictional day.”

Taylor Wimpey North Thames fosters a love of reading beyond World Book Day. Across several of its developments, the housebuilder has introduced outdoor libraries, where residents can borrow books on a bring-and-borrow basis. These community libraries provide a valuable resource for families, encouraging shared learning and bringing people together through the joy of reading.
