Driver arrested and taken to hospital after car hits property and electricity pole on B1256 at Takeley Street




The road leading to Takeley from the M11 junction 8 roundabout was shut on Monday afternoon after a car crashed into a property on Sunday night.

The vehicle hit a pole supporting overhead electricity cables on the B1256 at Takeley Street. UK Power Networks engineers are working to restore supplies. Their permit for the work runs until Friday (January 3).

The car driver, a man in his 40s, was arrested and taken to hospital.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “We were called to reports of a single-vehicle collision in The Street, Takeley Street, shortly before 10.45pm on Sunday 29 December.

“It was reported a car had been involved in a collision with a property. Officers attended alongside ambulance service colleagues.

“A man, aged in his 40s, was arrested on suspicion of failing to provide a sample [for a roadside breath test] and was taken on to hospital for further treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.”
