Driver, 18, arrested as truck crashes into barn and bursts into flames at Takeley
An 18-year-old driver was arrested after a vehicle crashed into a barn and caught fire at Takeley.
Firefighters, some of them wearing breathing apparatus, extinguished the flames and prevented them from spreading.
The driver of the flatbed truck fled the scene but was located and arrested soon after and taken into custody.
Members of all three emergency services were called to the incident in The Street late on Tuesday night (January 14).
Officers from Essex Police’s Uttlesford and Stansted Airport response teams and roads policing unit attended just after 11.50pm.
Three Essex County Fire and Rescue Service crews – from Dunmow, Stansted and Newport – and East of England Ambulance Service paramedics also attended.
The B1256 remained closed for a short time to enable the teams to work safely.
