East Herts Council has organised an event so residents can talk to housing associations about homes available for shared ownership across the district.

They will be presenting a range of new properties and resales available now in Bishop’s Stortford, Hertford, Buntingford and the villages for people living or working in East Herts and showcasing upcoming properties.

Free initial advice from financial advisors and solicitors will also be available at the event on on Saturday, March 2, from 10am to 2pm at Wodson Park Sports and Leisure Centre, Ware.

Shared ownership is a way of buying a home when property prices would otherwise be out of reach. Buyers meet a portion of the purchase price with a mortgage and pay rent on the difference. In some instances this can work out cheaper than renting and has the benefit of security of tenure.

Cllr Jan Goodeve, executive member for housing, said: “We know that house prices are high in East Herts and being able to afford a home is a struggle for many residents.

“The housing fair will provide an opportunity for people to find out how it can be made a little easier for them.”
