Truth and Treasure: Churches organise town centre trail for people to hear the true meaning of Easter in exchange for chocolate treasure
Churches in Bishop's Stortford are inviting people to hit a town centre trail this weekend to learn the true meaning of Easter and take home chocolate treasure.
The free 'Truth and Treasure' trail will be running from 10am to 4pm on Good Friday, Saturday and Easter Sunday (April 15-17).
Umbrella group Churches Together in Bishop's Stortford (CTBS) first hosted the event last year as a new way of telling the Easter story and gave away over 200 chocolate eggs – and it is doing the same again.
Posters with QR codes have been stuck in the windows of six shops and cafés between the southern end of South Street and the Market Square junction at the Corn Exchange.
When trail participants point their mobile phone cameras at the codes they will be played short videos of one to two minutes that tell the story of Easter in a different way. Each video reveals a key word – put the six words together to claim your Easter egg from the CTBS stall in Market Square outside Dough&Co.
CTBS chair and Methodist Church minister Rev Gill Hulme said: "There is no cost to enter. All we ask is that you and your families enjoy yourself and have a very happy Easter."
