Coronavirus: Eat17 launches free home delivery service for its Bishop's Stortford grocery store
Eat17, Bishop's Stortford town centre's Spar store, is offering free, same-day home delivery of groceries in response to the coronavirus crisis.
Owner James Brundle has also extended the shop's range to include more basic lines such as eggs, pasta and loo rolls.
The former Birchwood High School student said: "We've decided to start doing same-day home deliveries if customers call us up as the supermarkets are being very slow and constantly out of stock. Hopefully, this will be useful for our customers.
"We've also added loads more basic lines from Spar, so customers can order their Eat17 deli favourites but can now also order the essentials – eggs, loo roll, soap, pasta and a large range of fully-stocked wine!"
The phone-based operation was launched on Thursday (March 26). Customers ring 01279 652121. The line is open from 9am to 5pm every day and delivery is free for orders over £10. Shoppers can also request a callback by emailing email@example.com.
Eat 17 in Stortford, which James set up in October 2017 with stepbrother Chris O'Connor, is one of four branches; the three others are in London – Walthamstow, Hackney and Hammersmith.
The Potter Street outlet includes a street food market with six vendors – Petrucci's Pizzas, Sukia noodles, Buffalo Joe's burgers and wings, Naughty Naans Indian-style calzone, Waffle On sweet and savoury waffles and Katsu Charlie's Japanese food – as well as Eat 17's own cafe. While the eat-in seating area has been shut in accordance with Government instructions, takeaways are still being offered.
Eat 17 is also home to Potter Street Fishmongers and Hanaya florists.
