Elsenham Annual Village Flower Show: It's ready, set, grow for return of the annual event next month

Gardeners, bakers and craft makers are all busy preparing for the return of Elsenham's annual village flower show next month.

Held within the Memorial Hall and in a marquee on Elsenham Playing field, the event on Saturday August 20 will open to the public from 3pm and culminate with a fun auction of produce, followed by the prize giving at around 4.30pm.

This year will see entrants competing across 91 classes ranging from flowers, vegetables and fruit to produce such as jams, chutneys and liqueurs.

The baking classes will include the popular 'men's only' section while there will also be categories for flower arranging, photography and handicrafts and a children's section.

Homemade teas and cakes will be served throughout the afternoon with seating outside if the weather permits.

"This event is only possible due to the support we've received from our villagers throughout the year," said Thuy Nottage, of Elsenham Flower Show Society.

We sold an overwhelming number of plants from our plant sale in May (through the hard work our committee members and the generous donation of plants from so many kind gardeners!) and from our highly successful Open Gardens event with a record-breaking number of 12 gardens in total, which took place in June."
