A woman was pronounced dead at the scene after paramedics and police officers rushed to a Bishop’s Stortford residential street this morning.
A spokesman for Hertfordshire Constabulary confirmed: “Police were called at around 9.27am today (Thursday, June 5) following reports of a concern for welfare at an address on Highfield Avenue.
“Officers attended with colleagues from the East of England Ambulance Service.
“Sadly, a woman in her 60s was pronounced dead at the scene, and her family are being supported by officers.
“The death is not being treated as suspicious, and a file is being prepared for the coroner.”
At around 11.20am, an Essex & Herts Air Ambulance flew from North Weald and landed in the town’s New Cemetery to deal with a separate emergency call.
