Euro 24: The households guaranteed to be celebrating after Sunday’s England v Spain final, regardless of the result
Regardless of the result, several households in the Indie patch were guaranteed to be celebrating after Sunday’s Euro 24 final in Berlin – because they had ‘dual nationality’ of English and Spanish members.
We asked our Facebook followers to flag up any homes with divided loyalties.
Spaniard Marta Sabio and her husband Paul Bowcock hung English and Spanish flags from their home and were joined by Marta’s parents, Vicente and Angela, who flew from Malaga to visit for the weekend.
Also there were the couple’s children, Victoria and Pablo, and Paul’s mother Lynda and sister Nicola Halkett.
The Spencer and Dean family of Elsenham were split right down the middle.
While younger daughter Emilia Dean-Spencer, 7, sided with dad Richard Spencer in supporting England, her older sister Adriana, 13, was flying the flag for Spain with mum Lydia Dean Gomez.
In Bishop’s Stortford, Nazareth ‘Naz’ Lovesy and husband Dean enjoyed a nice ‘balanced’ meal of Spanish omelette and a classic Victorian sponge.
And Kerry Kosh, of Bishop’s Stortford, posted a photo of her 19-year-old daughter, Lucy Morris, and her Spanish boyfriend, 22-year-old Alvaro Ellam-Perez.
“I gave him a nice England flag to wear,” said Kerry.
In the end, it was the Spanish fans who went to bed on a high after substitute Mikel Oyarzabal’s 86th-minute winner gave Spain a record fourth European Championship trophy.
