Essex County Fire and Rescue Service team sweeps the board at UK Rescue Organisation regional challenge




Essex firefighters’ expert extrication skills earned four awards at a UK Rescue Organisation (UKRO) regional challenge.

The Essex County Fire and Rescue Service extrication team competed against 10 others from across the region in Reigate, Surrey.

They secured first place overall and won all three individual disciplines: best technical – Kelvin Tuckwell, Andrew Edwards and Kevin Bloomfield; best medical team – Jeremy Tuckwell and Alex Hough; best officer in charge – Scott Ford.

The UKRO regional challenge is part of a long-standing initiative known as the Rescue Challenge Concept.

The contest fosters a culture of information exchange, peer learning and constructive feedback, helping to raise operational standards across the board.
