Jet2 extends summer season with more green list flights from Stansted Airport
More flights to green list destinations have been added to the schedule at Stansted Airport to extend the summer holiday season.
Jet2.com and Jet2holidays ramped up departures in response to continued demand from customers and independent travel agents.
The tour operator has added capacity in the late-summer period to Malta, Madeira and Croatia. It has extended its season until the end of October with two weekly flights to Malta, three a week to Dubrovnik and to Madeira and weekly Sunday departures to Split.
Steve Griffiths, Stansted Airport's managing director, said: "It's fantastic news for passengers across the London Stansted region that Jet2.com and Jet2holidays have added even more flights and holidays to green list destinations this summer.
"The extended schedule reflects the huge demand that exists from passengers eager to enjoy well-earned holidays in the sun from their local airport.
"While this is a very positive move, it's hugely disappointing the UK is still so far behind in reopening international travel, so the Government must now develop a stable, sustainable and affordable system that recognises more countries can and should be on the green list and gives people the confidence to book ahead through the winter and into next year to support the full recovery of the travel industry."
Steve Heapy, chief executive of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said: "Destinations on the green list are continuing to enjoy a huge amount of demand from our customers and once again we are responding quickly to that demand by giving holidaymakers even more choice and flexibility.
"With more flights and holidays now on sale from London Stansted to Malta, Croatia and Madeira, we know there will be a rush of bookings based on what we have already seen this summer and that is great news."
He added: "On one hand we are very pleased to be adding more flights and holidays to such fantastic destinations, but on the other hand we continue to be left frustrated that so many more destinations remain off the green list for no discernible reason.
"We are now right in the middle of the peak holiday season so we urge the Government to take the handbrake off international travel and adopt the same approach as it has to so many other areas of everyday life.
"The vaccination programme continues to be a huge success so we should be able to enjoy the benefits of that, including enjoying our holidays this summer."
