Farm animals and crafts delight children at the Charis Centre

More than 100 children flocked to the Charis Centre’s ever-popular Crafty Easter event where they cuddled lambs, held chicks and celebrated the Christian Easter story.

The team at Daisy May’s Farm in Elsenham brought the animals along to the Water Lane community church and the youngsters had a go at caring for the adorable creatures.

The visitors played in a bubble tent, iced biscuits and made cards. They also decorated eggs and learned that these are a symbol of new life.

Ruth Kirkland, one of the children’s leaders, organised the event alongside her colleague Claire Pearce.

Ruth said: “It was really well attended. It was the third year we’ve run it.”

One family who came along to Crafty Easter told Ruth they had planned their Easter getaway around the free event to ensure they did not miss out.

“There’s a really lovely warmth and people love that,” said Ruth.

“I think it’s just lovely seeing people come in and enjoy the crafts. Our wonderful volunteers give their time to bless the community and share God’s love.”
