A 58-year-old Farnham man has been given a two-year ban for drink-driving after overturning his van at Elsenham.

Police were called on Friday 7 February at around 5.45pm to reports that a white Vauxhall Vivaro had left the road at Golf World Stansted, Hall Road.

Officers arrived and arrested Anton Avery, who lives in Hazel End, on suspicion of drink-driving. He was later charged with the offence and with obstructing a constable in the execution of their duty.

He pleaded guilty when he appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court on Tuesday 10 March.

Avery was disqualified from driving for 24 months and was ordered to take part in a rehabilitation programme, do 40 hours' unpaid work and to pay £105 in court costs and a £90 victim surcharge.
