Competitive eater and YouTuber Max vs Food smashes record for eating eight pies, eight portions of mash and liquor at F. Cooke Pie & Mash in Bishop’s Stortford
If the question was who ate all the pies, a ‘food adventurer’ and YouTuber called Max vs Food would be able to answer that in the affirmative after a mammoth nosh-up at a Bishop’s Stortford eatery.
The competitive eater – real name Max Stanford, who is ranked in the world’s top 10 speed eaters – dropped into F. Cooke Pie & Mash in South Street to take on the challenge of eating eight pies, eight portions of mash and eight of liquor.
And he certainly earned his crust by obliter-eating the record of 22 minutes and 15 seconds, demolishing the plateful in 8mins 15secs.
Restaurant owner Fred Cooke said: “Max is a machine – our pies and mash are usually savoured at leisure.
“Max smashed our record, and said he enjoyed every mouthful and said they were the best pies and mash he’s ever had.”
Fans of the traditional Cockney grub have another treat in store when Fred’s Stortford restaurant will host the first ever pie eating competition, in conjunction with the Food Eating League (FEL), on Saturday June 7 at 4pm.
