A BBC presenter and food historian joined residents of a Stansted care home for a virtual session that brought back many happy memories.

Dr Polly Russell, who appears on the TV programme 'Back in Time For....' is supporting Care UK's nationwide initiative designed to evoke residents' memories and emotions through food.

Aiden Kelly, chef at Mountfitchet House in Coltsfield, prepared an afternoon tea which included traditional sandwiches, Victoria sponge and pastries, for residents to enjoy while Dr Polly took them through each treat, it’s delicious history and they were then encouraged to share their associated memories.

Jane Maxwell, Home Manager at Mountfitchet House, added: "Reminiscence can be incredibly beneficial for older people and interactive activities like this can provide an opportunity to re-live happy times.

"We had a wonderful time listening to Polly. It certainly provided some ‘food for thought’ and it was brilliant to see how people’s faces lit up as they reminisced and shared their own memories.”
