Forest Hall students travel to Denmark
Students at Forest Hall School in Stansted took part in a European exchange with old friends from Denmark.
A group of students from Sndervangskolen in Hammel, part of one of the Continents largest farming estates, experienced life in the UK during a three-day visit to the village academy last year.
This year, pupils from Year 7, 8 and 9 returned the gesture, spending four days with host families.
The group, along with their teachers, visited a museum showing Denmark through time, a gallery and a street food market, as well as experiencing time in school.
The schools subject lead for maths, Debbie Round, said: Some of these students had never been away from their parents. They got a sense of independence and realised they can do so much on their own. It was also an opportunity for us all to experience a different school in a different area to what we are used to.
Executive head Stephen Hehir commented This was such a wonderful opportunity for the students of our school and is something we aim to continue in future years. It is so important in our world today that young people realise even though they live in different countries
and speak different languages, they have so much in common with each other. Celebrating differences and learning about each other will make our young people more well-rounded citizens of the future.
