Thai restaurant to replace Greedy Greek in Market Square in Bishop's Stortford
A Thai restaurant – the fourth such eatery in Bishop's Stortford – is set to replace a Greek street food business in the town centre.
Michal Wegrzyn has asked East Herts Council for planning permission to change the advertising signs at the Market Square premises of Greedy Greek.
He is a co-director with Preechaya Wegrzyn of One Thai Café Ltd and runs One Thai in West Street, Ware, which offers eat-in and takeaway options.
The first-floor business in Market Square, nestled between Humphrey's the butcher and Dorringtons the baker, has previously been home to burger joint DB's Griddle as well as cafés the Fat Rabbit and Ferns.
In March 2020, Jimmy Georgiou, of The Poplars in Great Hallingbury, asked EHC for planning consent to install new signs at the premises for his Greedy Greek business. Before that, DB's Griddle shut in February 2019, two years after opening.
Bishop's Stortford already has three Thai food businesses in the form of the Giggling Squid chain in North Street, Baan Thitiya at the former Old Bull's Head pub in London Road and Yaay Yaay street food stall at Eat 17 in Potter Street.
