Sawbridgeworth allotment holders’ and gardeners’ autumn show takes place at Memorial Hall

The fruits of the labours of Sawbridgeworth’s gardeners will be on display at an allotments and garden show this weekend.

Sawbridgeworth Allotment Society’s autumn show takes place at Sawbridgeworth Memorial Hall on Saturday (Aug 31) from 1.30pm. Everything from giant dahlias to beetroots and runner beans will be there to see.

Categories include dahlias, chrysanthemums, fruit, vegetables, floral art and handicrafts. There is also a children’s section and a fun group where the longest runner bean, heaviest marrow and largest tomato will be measured.

Organisers stress exhibitors do not have to have an allotment – or a garden!

Exhibitors can take their products to the hall in The Forebury between 9am and 11am, but must be clear by 11.30am. Admission to the show is £1.

Also taking place in Sawbridgeworth on Saturday will be Fun on the Field at Bullfields Park off Cutforth Road.

The event, between midday and 5pm, will feature live music, stalls, food, a dog show and competitions, funfair and family activities.
