Plans are well under way to set up the Bishop’s Stortford Library of Things – a community project to give local people the chance to hire tools, technology and gadgets.

The library now has a pressure washer, bread maker, steam wallpaper stripper, hand tools, a six-man tent, a carpet cleaner and Sega Megadrive on its books, along with plenty of other items.

The borrowing hub will be set up at Bishop’s House, the centre in Windhill for adults with physical or learning disabilities and for older people with dementia.

Work will begin to transform an unused storage building at Bishop’s House into the centre. Work begins on Wednesday (September 11). Volunteers will be rewarded with cake.

The team will also be putting on a repair café and Macmillan coffee morning on Friday, September 27. People are invited to take along broken items and the team will endeavour to give them a new lease of life.

To find out more, visit the Library of Things’ Facebook page or pop along to Bishop’s House on Friday, September 13 at 2pm for its next planning meeting.
