Stansted Windmill’s August bank holiday Monday fete promises fun for all the family
Get set for all the fun of the fair at Stansted Windmill’s annual August bank holiday Monday fete.
Crowd favourite the teddy parachute, in which children’s beloved cuddly toys are launched from the top of the mill, returns, despite fears that a shortage of volunteers would prevent it from happening.
Spokesman Trevor Lloyd said: “It’s now safe and definitely will be there along with all the traditional stalls.”
Visitors can also enjoy a selection of stalls, music and food at both the windmill and the Recreation Ground from 1pm to 5pm on Monday August 26.
The popular inflatables will return with cartoon-themed, under the sea and princess castles, gladiator joust, inflatable party bus, superhero fun run assault course and slide. The price remains the same as last year – £7.50 for a wrist band to access all the bouncy fun.
Robbie the Land Train will be giving tours around the rec and organisers have arranged for two ice cream vans this year, one at each site, to ease the queues.
Tours of the windmill, which is over 200 years old, will also be available. Money raised from the event goes towards upkeep of the ancient monument.
