Fundraisers sniff out money-making opportunities in aid of Red Nose Day

Red Nose Day 2019 was a resounding success as £63,548,668 was raised for Comic Relief – and Stortford groups had a hand in contributing to this phenomenal total.

The team at Snap Fitness hosted a 24-hour money spinner for the charity. Starting at 10.15am on Friday and ending at 11am the following day, the trainers at the Adderley Road gym put on continuous exercise classes, such as circuit training, Chinese boxing and military fitness.

The 24-hour fitness fundraiser raised £250 for Comic Relief and around 60 people visited the gym during its duration to take on one of the workout classes.

While there were not quite as many fitness buffs who went along to the classes during the early hours of Saturday morning, the team at Snap did welcome participants for each one of their hour-long sessions, and the team were delighted with the steady stream of supporters.

Thorley Manor Football Club held a fun-filled fundraiser of their own for Red Nose Day as 80 children and coaches sprayed their hair ‘Thorley Manor orange’ and made £100.

Coach Cheryl Codlin said: “The thing that stood out for us was the effort that people went to, the excitement it brought to the children and how it brought us – an already close club – even closer.”

Brad Collins, another one of the coaches, fully embraced the orange theme of the day and also sprayed his beard the luminous shade.

“He really made a great effort,” added Cheryl.
