GCSE results: Leventhorpe celebrates record numbers heading for sixth-form studies
Leventhorpe School student Luke Sanderson scored nine grade 9s in his GCSE exams.
Record numbers of fellow pupils at the Cambridge Road secondary in Sawbridgeworth have secured grades that will enable them to secure sixth-form places from September.
Other top performers included Matthew Morrissey, who achieved eight 9s and two 8s, and Annie Love and Reece Mascall, both with six 9s.
Bobbie Short, Danny Bill, Timothy Macey, Oliver Murray and Jed Eastland all attained an average of 8 across their subjects.
As the results were revealed on Thursday, head Malcolm White praised the students for their maturity and pragmatism in light of their Covid-19 experiences.
He said: "The situation over grading has caused worry and concern for many students and parents and it has been good to see so many happy students collecting results this morning. The school wishes them every success in their futures and hope they can celebrate their achievements fully over the coming days."
