Lidl about to open new store in Saffron Walden ahead of Bishop’s Stortford branch
Lidl has confirmed that its newest store will open in Saffron Walden next week – ahead of one in Bishop’s Stortford later this year.
After a ceremonial ribbon cutting on Thursday (June 26), the first weekend at the Radwinter Road outlet will feature complimentary food sampling as well as special prizes.
Spanning 1,410 sq m (15,177 sq ft), the supermarket will feature an in-store bakery. Facilities include toilets with baby-changing stations.
Outside, there is parking for cars and bicycles as well as two electric vehicle charging bays.
The multi-million-pound investment is creating around 40 new jobs.
Andrew Hodgkinson, regional head of property at Lidl GB, said: “We’re thrilled to be joining the community in Saffron Walden and are excited to welcome the first shoppers through our doors.
“We’ve been creating Lidl fans across the country and are excited to now bring our much-loved products to shoppers here.
“Thank you to everyone who has played a part in helping to make this store a reality. It’s always an exciting moment when we’re finally able to see our plans come to life and make a difference to local communities.”
The German discount retailer is set to open a new store at Stansted Road in Stortford this autumn and another branch off Stortford Road, Dunmow, next year.
