Rye Street accident: Girl, 11, seriously injured

An 11-year-old girl was taken to hospital with serious injuries after she was involved in a collision with a car in Bishop's Stortford on Sunday afternoon (June 9).

The accident happened in Rye Street near the junction with Stane Close at about 1.30pm.

The girl was on foot. The car involved was a silver Mercedes 180.

She was taken by road ambulance to Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow for treatment for chest and knee injuries. The East Anglian Air Ambulance also attended the scene.

Rye Street was closed between the junctions with Lindsey Road and Galloway Road for about an hour while paramedics and police dealt with the incident.

The East of England Ambulance Service sent an ambulance and ambulance officer as well as the air ambulance.
