Sawbridgeworth Town Council approves grants for cricket club and mini police scheme for schools

Grants were agreed for the town’s cricket club to keep its ground up to standard and for the schools mini police scheme.

Sawbridgeworth Town Council agreed a grant of £500 for Sawbridgeworth Cricket Club to help towards fixing its roller and buying a new mower.

The application from Charlie Mann said the club was reliant on the upkeep of the ground to run the club efficiently and in turn reliant on its equipment.

Councillors reduced the amount requested from £1,500 to £500.

An application was made by neighbourhood police team officers Pc Shelly Marshall and PCSO Fallon Collins for £500 in order to offer students a small plastic warrant card holder and a police pocket notebook and pencil at the end of the mini police programme.

The scheme is aimed at eight to 11-year-olds and is a fun and interactive opportunity led by local officers.
