Bishop’s Stortford firefighters tackled a fire across two acres of grassland in Much Hadham.

During the incident, dense smoke drifted across the High Street. Nobody was hurt and the fire is believed to have started accidentally.

Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service’s Assistant Chief Fire Officer Mark Barber said: “Fighting this kind of grass fire can be hard physical work and I’d like to thank the firefighters from our Bishop’s Stortford fire station for tackling this fire quickly and effectively.

“The current hot and dry weather means that fires are more likely to start and more likely to spread quickly, so we’d ask people to take extra care.”
