Greater Anglia blocks Wi-Fi access on trains and stations to pornography and child sex abuse images
Greater Anglia has received a safe Wi-Fi certification, signalling that it blocks pornography and child sexual abuse images on its trains and at stations.
The company, which runs the West Anglia line from London Liverpool Street to Cambridge and Stansted Express services to and from the airport, has been checked by Friendly WiFi, a Government-initiated safety scheme.
The accreditation – which covers the Wi-Fi networks on all of Greater Anglia’s services in Hertfordshire, Essex, Cambridgeshire, Suffolk and Norfolk plus its 134 stations – means that all sites showing pornography and child sexual abuse images are blocked, using the internationally recognised Project Arachnid URL block list. Terrorism-related search results are also removed.
Michael Robertson, Greater Anglia’s finance and IT director, said: “It means our customers can browse and enjoy the internet safely and with peace of mind while on their journeys with us.”
