Greater Anglia warns of disruption for boxing fans heading to Eubank Jr versus Benn fight
Boxing fans travelling by train to Chris Eubank Junior’s fight with Conor Benn at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this weekend face disruptions.
Greater Anglia has announced changes to services on Saturday (April 26) so Network Rail can carry out engineering work.
Buses will replace trains between Stansted Airport/Hertford East and Broxbourne. Trains will run between Cambridge and Stansted Airport as well as between Broxbourne and London Liverpool Street.
Before the fight, there will be four trains an hour from Liverpool Street – which will call at Northumberland Park – and two from Stratford.
Afterwards, there will be very limited services, which are expected to be extremely busy. Passengers should plan their journey home in advance and consider alternative methods of transport. Additional staff will be available to help them.
The last southbound train towards Liverpool Street will depart at 12.03am while the last northbound service toward Broxbourne will leave Northumberland Park at 12.13am.
Mike Barry, head of customer services west, said: “Greater Anglia services are expected to be very busy before and after the event and customers are advised to avoid using Northumberland Park station, as a limited train service will call there.
“Trains will run with the maximum number of carriages; however, services will be severely impacted for this event and customers are advised to plan ahead and allow extra time for their journey.
“We strongly encourage customers to use alternate means of transport or walk to Seven Sisters for the Victoria Line after the event.
“We would like to thank customers for their understanding.”
