Stansted in Bloom: Growers celebrate their success at prize-giving
The green-fingered winners of this year’s Stansted in Bloom competition have been presented with their prizes by the parish council.
There were 42 entries across the six categories. Judges bestowed two additional awards.
Winners, runners-up, judges and organisers gathered at TouchPoint’s community garden at Crafton Green House for the prize-giving.
The same day, judges from the regional Anglia in Bloom contest visited the village - the results of which will be announced in the autumn.
Trevor Lloyd, of Stansted in Bloom, said of this year's competition: "Organisers and judges were really pleased with the response and the quality of the gardens. Judges particularly enjoyed meeting the entrants, who were keen to share their enthusiasm for their gardens."
Referring to the Anglia in Bloom competition, he said judges were taken on a tour of the village, visiting TouchPoint's garden, the windmill, the Blythwood Garden entry point to the village, the Memorial Gardens, Mountfitchet House care home, the Elms Farm allotment site and St Mary's churchyard.
Mr Lloyd said: "They made lots of positive comments about the village and people they met. The results will be announced at the awards event on September 7. We got a silver award for our virtual entry, but this is the first time we've actually had judges touring the village."
