Bishop's Stortford residents are being asked for their views on the future of sport, recreation and leisure provision in East Herts.

The district council wants to ensure that a new planning document reflects the need for open spaces and other community facilities.

The authority aims to protect existing provision and, where necessary, enhance it.

The council's Open Space, Sport and Recreation Supplementary Planning Document adds to the district plan and explains how the council will work to achieve these aims.

It sets out the obligations developers must fulfil, how their contributions are calculated and what the council is allowed to ask for.

Cllr Jan Goodeve, EHC's executive member for planning, said: "High-quality open spaces and sport and recreation options that are easy to reach will mean that everyone can enjoy being active in the way that suits them best.

"We want to make it as convenient as possible for more people to get involved in sport and leisure.

"Before the document is finalised, we want to hear from as many people as possible, so please have a read through it and make your comments."

Consultation closes on November 14. To have your say, visit the relevant East Herts Council webpage here.
