Countryside Alliance Awards: Henham village store and post office highly commended in ‘rural Oscars’
Henham’s village shop and post office has won a highly commended award in the ‘Rural Oscars’ for its quality of service.
The awards scheme is run by the Countryside Alliance and Henham’s store scooped the prize in the East of England category.
Sarah Lee, Countryside Alliance Director of Policy, said: "We are proud to be honouring these exceptional rural businesses in the East of England, and the people behind them who are passionate about providing quality goods, services, and employment to rural communities and beyond.
“Running a business in a rural community isn’t easy, and it’s so important to celebrate the valued role these rural enterprises have in their communities.”
The community owned shop in High Street has been operational since 1998 and is run by a manager and a team of volunteers. It provides fresh bread and pastries every day as well as housing the post office.
The Countryside Alliance Awards are now in their 17th year. Thousands of nominations from around the country were whittled down via a public vote.
