Morocco’s Royal Air Maroc to launch new Casablanca route from Stansted in June
Moroccan flag carrier Royal Air Maroc is to launch a new direct service from Stansted to Casablanca this summer.
The Oneworld alliance member will operate flights three times a week – on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays – from June 24 using a Boeing 737-800 with a flight time of around three hours 20 minutes.
The service is designed to cater to business and leisure travellers to Morocco’s largest city.
Casablanca, famous for the classic 1942 film starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman, boasts attractions from the magnificent Hassan II Mosque – one of the largest in the world – to the romantic Corniche waterfront.
Ciaran Brannigan, Stansted’s commercial director, said: “Of all the airports in all the towns in all the world, Royal Air Maroc chose London Stansted for its new direct service to Casablanca, a decision we are truly delighted about.
“This service will provide our passengers with more choice and convenience when travelling to North Africa, whether for business, leisure or connecting onto the airline’s broader route network.
“Casablanca is an iconic destination, and we are confident this new route will be the beginning of a beautiful friendship between Royal Air Maroc and London Stansted.”
Zoubida Smahi, Royal Air Maroc’s UK general manager, said: “We are thrilled to offer our passengers a direct link between London Stansted and Casablanca, one of the most vibrant and culturally rich cities in Morocco.
“This new service reflects our commitment to providing convenient and accessible travel options for both business and leisure travellers, while also connecting them to our extensive network across Africa.
“We look forward to welcoming passengers aboard and to further strengthening our presence in the UK and beyond.”
Stansted serves almost 200 destinations across Europe, North Africa and the Middle East, and has flights to more European destinations than any other UK airport.
