Herts County Council trading standards issues ticket advice to Oasis fans

Hertfordshire County Council’s trading standards team has issued advice to Oasis fans to ensure they don’t look back in anger when comeback tour tickets go on general sale on Saturday (August 31).

Officers say buyers should definitely maybe follow these five top tips to avoid getting scammed:

• Always book tickets through official sellers who are members of STAR Ticketing

• If it looks too good to be true it probably is – do your research on the going rate for the tickets before handing over any money

• Avoid buying from ticket touts, these may not be genuine

• Check that the websites you are booking through have contact details and are registered to an address before you buy

• Use a credit card to buy tickets rather than a debit card to help protect you if you do get scammed – you are more likely to be able to get your money back.

If you think you may have been scammed, contact your bank immediately and report it to Action Fraud.

Cllr Morris Bright, HCC’s executive member for community protection said: “We are the first people our residents call for advice and protection from scams.

“Our trading standards teams work tirelessly to ensure consumers have all the information they need to protect themselves, and we do a lot of work with businesses registered in our county to make sure that they comply with the law when it comes to selling tickets to gigs and events.

“We urge Hertfordshire’s Oasis fans to think carefully before they commit to handing over any money and follow the tips above to prevent themselves becoming a victim of fraud.”

The official outlets are Ticketmaster, Gigsandtours and SeeTickets. Prices range from £73 for the cheapest seats to £506 for the premium package.

The warring Gallagher brothers will reunite to play five dates at Manchester’s Heaton Park, five at London’s Wembley Stadium, three nights at Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium and two at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium. The last gigs will be in Ireland, at Dublin’s Croke Park.
