Students at Hillmead school in Bishop’s Stortford conducted experiments as part of British Science Week.

The Woburn Avenue primary held workshops with local company Fab Science.

Spokeswoman Helen Wardle explained: “Fab Science came into school and ran Potty Potions workshops for each class over the two days – including our nursery and reception classes.

“They mixed various ingredients such as vinegar, red cabbage juice, lemon juice, washing powder etc to make various colours to make a rainbow potion. They also used vinegar and baking soda to blow up balloons and made exploding lemonade with mints!

“The children haven’t stopped talking about it and it was lovely that even our youngest children were able to have a go!”

* Bishop’s Stortford mum of two Emma Ranade, a qualified science teacher, founded Fab Science in 2012 and has worked with thousands of children at over 600 parties, holiday clubs and school workshops across Hertfordshire, Essex, Cambridgeshire and North London.
