Hockerill triumphs for a third time as Stortford school students test their general knowledge

Hockerill Anglo-European College students emerged as the victors after a closely fought 2019 Rotary Club of Bishop’s Stortford Inter-Schools Quiz.

Held in the Ferguson Lecture Theatre at the Bishop’s Stortford College, teacher Mike Tomkys acted as quizmaster and tested the general knowledge of pupils from Hockerill, Bishop’s Stortford High School, Herts and Essex High School, St Mary’s Catholic School, Birchwood High Schoool, Leventhorpe in Sawbridgeworth and the home team.

In the first semi-final, the Bishop’s Stortford College team were victorious against the Herts and Essex. The second semi-final brought two Hockerill teams head to head in a tight battle of wits with the winning team of George Braeckman, Erwann Harrison, Thomas Wilson and Oliver Brunt scored 310 points, ten more than their rivals.

The Hockerill team continued their winning streak to beat Bishops Storford College convincingly, with 660 points against 190.

It was the third successive year that Hockerill Anglo-European College has won the competition.

David Royle president the Rotary Club of Bishop’s Stortford presented the trophy to the winning team and participation certificates to all members of the teams.
