Police want to identify teenage pair on off-road bikes who rode at excessive speed against one-way system in Bishop’s Stortford town centre
Police want to identify two teenage motorcyclists who were riding dangerously in Bishop’s Stortford town centre on Saturday evening (August 17).
The pair, who were on off-road machines, rode at excessive speed along South Street – including against the one-way system – and did wheelies.
A woman posted on the Bishop’s Stortford Community Facebook page soon after 7.30pm: “Just seen those absolute ****holes on [their] unplated motorbikes racing up and down the high street the opposite way!” She claimed they were doing 60-70mph.
A man commented: “I saw this too, was so dangerous going the wrong way down at speed.” Another added: “They were driving on wrong side in town centre, they start revving the motorbikes really loud.”
A dad posted: “I was walking with my 2-year-old son and the young kid on the dirty bike was doing wheelies towards the Bridge House. Bloody dangerous for everyone around.”
A spokeswoman for Hertfordshire Constabulary told the Indie: “Police received two calls reporting that two motocross bikes were being ridden dangerously in the Bishop’s Stortford town centre area. Officers conducted patrols but the bikes were not traced.
“Enquiries are continuing to identify those involved as part of a wider piece of work to tackle anti-social and dangerous riding in the town.
“If you have any information about who may be responsible, we’d urge you to please report any names and addresses directly to police straight away.”
