Steamer Trading closure: Stortford shop to reopen as ProCook

Six jobs at a Bishop's Stortford kitchenware shop are being saved after its new owners chose not to give it the chop.

Steamer Trading was bought out of administration in January by rival retailer ProCook, which has an outlet at Freeport in Braintree.

All 19 Steamer Trading shops will close in early July, but the South Street store, next to Waterstone's, is one of 11 that will be rebranded and reopen as a ProCook.

The eight others, including branches in Saffron Walden and St Albans, will shut for good.

Steamer Trading's Stortford store is currently holding a closing down sale, with discounts of up to 20%. It is not known yet when it will reopen as a ProCook.
