Jurassic Park dinosaur head is jaw-dropping addition to Stansted's House on the Hill Toy Museum
A dinosaur's head that was used in the movie Jurassic Park is the latest acquisition for Stansted's House on the Hill Toy Museum.
Owner Jeremy Goldsmith was offered the "rare" animatronic from the 1993 action adventure blockbuster, directed by Steven Spielberg, and snapped at the chance to add the impressive jaws to his collection of antique toys.
Built in 1991-92 by props company Stan Wilson Studios, the model, made from latex foam, was now quite worn, he said.
"It's slightly deteriorated with age, but I quite like it like that," said Jeremy.
"Close up, it's quite amazing as underneath the exoskeleton you can see all the animatronics inside which make its eyes and tongue move.
"It would have taken six or seven people to operate it.
"Of course, now it's all CGI, but back then it was all done with props.
"I believe it's the velociraptor in the famous kitchen scene when its head peers round a door."
The Lower Street musuem has an outdoor dinosaur park. "Children just love the dinosaurs, it's magical for them," said Jeremy. "My boys absolutely love this one!"
