Northgate Summer Fayre: Jubilee celebrations continue with royal theme to Bishop's Stortford primary school's fete

A royal-themed summer fayre will be enjoyed by pupils, families and staff at Northgate Primary School on Saturday (June 11).

Running from 12pm to 3pm, there are numerous activities and entertainment in royal-themed zones.

The Royal Games Room will feature traditional attractions of splat a rat, hook a duck, hoop-la, beat the goalie and sponge the teacher along with Year 6 games, arts and craft and glitter tattoos.

In the Northgate Horse Guards Arena visitors can enjoy pony rides and a dog show, watch a karate academy display, take part in a hip hop workshop and be entertained by performances by the school choir and Northgate All Stars cheerleaders

The Bouncy Windsor Castle zone features fairground rides and inflatables while the Northgate Royal Household has a disco, raffle, tombola and second-hand uniform sale.

There is a dog show with 25-minute classes running throughout the afternoon: 12.15-12.40 waggiest tail, 12.45-1.10 dog the judge would most like to take home, 1.15-1.40 best paw shaker, 2.00-2.25 best rescue, 2.30-2.50 gorgeous golden oldie (7+).

There will be the usual array of trade, gift and lucky dip book stalls as well as the police and Red Cross.

Visitors can enjoy food and drink at the fayre courtesy of the Afternoon Tea Jubilee Party zone and choose from Hockerill's Smoke BBQ Kitchen or Eat 17's Petrucci's Pizza, with beer from Raynham Road's The Belgian Brewer, coffee from Hasta Barista plus a cake stall, ice cream van and candyfloss machine.

Organised by the PTA, entry to the event at the Cricketfield Lane school is £1 per adult, free to children.

The Northgate Summer Fayre is sponsored by Forge Homes, which is sponsoring the main raffle prize of a £500 Center Parcs voucher.

The 36 other prizes include a £250 Alex Hart Kaizen gym and fitness package, £150 Meryl Photography family photo shoot, a £60 voucher for Stock Florist and Fordes and a £50 voucher for clothing shop Aristocrat.

There are also restaurant vouchers for Roni's, Pircio, Nando's, Dough & Co and Prezzo, plus alcoholic prizes from Cote, Tesco, Waitrose and The Belgian Brewer.

You can win tickets to see the Sarah and Duck show at South Mill Arts, a film at Empire Cinema, guest passes and a massage at Nuffield Health, family swims at Grange Paddocks and a free haircut at Basement Barbers.

Also up for grabs are a lesson for two at Pippins Cookery School, a month of free martial arts lessons, as well as candles, scarf and necklace, and a signed and framed Ed Sheeran album.
