Lord Lieutenant of Hertfordshire Robert Voss is guest of honour at Bishop’s Stortford High School’s awards evening
Lord Lieutenant of Hertfordshire Robert Voss was guest of honour at The Bishop’s Stortford High School’s awards evening.
The secondary’s students who left at the end of Year 13 in the summer got a first glimpse of the new campus at St James’ Park when they received their A-level certificates and prizes for academic achievement and extra-curricular activities.
When they left the school, it was still based at London Road. Many have just completed their first term at university or spent their first few months in the world of work, so staff were anxious to learn about their progress.
Music was provided by Joseph Lee, who won the Musician of the Year 2024 competition in March, before taking his A-levels and going to university. He was accompanied on piano by his brother Owen, who also attended the school and is studying at the Guildhall School of Music.
Head Dale Reeve said: “We were delighted to welcome Lord Lieutenant of Hertfordshire Robert Voss to our annual awards evening, the first at our new site in Beaumont Avenue.
“It’s always a wonderful evening to celebrate with students who left last summer as they return to receive their A-level and BTEC certificates, along with academic, personal and extra-curricular awards chosen by the school.
“Closing with a rousing rendition of our school hymn, Jerusalem, awards evening is truly a highlight of our school year.”
The Lord Lieutenant is the county’s official representative of King Charles III.
