Ron Hall: Love Island star shares perils of social media with Birchwood High School students
Love Island star and social media influencer Ron Hall shared his insights on life in the public gaze with pupils at Birchwood High School.
The former financial advisor from Essex took part in the ninth series of the ITV2 show last year and was the runner-up alongside Lana Jenkins.
He was the first visually impaired contestant to appear in the franchise. When he was eight, he lost sight in one eye after he was kicked in the face during a football match.
Since leaving the infamous villa, he has built a career as a social media influencer and talked to Year 9, 10 and 12 students about “the hard truth” of being a content creator and the impact this has had on his mental health.
A spokeswoman for the Parsonage Lane secondary said: “The students gained an excellent insight into the negative side of the social media industry and the façade it can create about people’s lives.
“The talk was well received both by students and staff and acted as an important reminder about the dangers of social media.”
