M11 drivers again face night-time closures between Bishop's Stortford and Duxford all this week
Night-time drivers face being diverted off the M11 at Bishop's Stortford this week as part of the motorway will be closed for ongoing essential resurfacing, road marking and drainage renewal.
The 17-mile stretch northbound between junctions 8 (Stortford) and 10 (Duxford) is closed from 8pm until 6am every day from Monday to Friday (March 20-24).
M11 motorists will be diverted onto the westbound A120 to Puckeridge, the northbound A10 to Royston and the eastbound A505 before rejoining at Duxford.
Work is also continuing on the southbound M11 between junctions 7 (Harlow) and 6 (M25), which means the motorway is closed between 9pm and 5am. The closures take place all this week (March 20-24) and next (Monday March 27 to Friday March 31).
Traffic is being diverted off the M11 at J7 (Hastingwood) and onto the westbound A414, southbound A10 and clockwise M25 to rejoin the M11 at J6.
National Highways is also planning to resume work to resurface and repair the north bridge at J8 (Bishop's Stortford). Its website states the work – which will see drivers wishing to travel southbound from Stortford diverted to J9A and back, a distance of around 30 miles – will begin "shortly".
