Barber shuts town centre salon after less than a year
A Bishop’s Stortford male grooming business has cuts its links with the town centre, less than a year after opening.
Elliott Kiernander, a former Leventhorpe School student, set up his salon in the former Fishy Biz fish and chip shop in South Street last June and hoped to bring London style to the town.
While Kiernander & Co has shut, the Independent understands that Crazy Razor, in South Street, is setting up a new Turkish barbering outlet, Art of Groom, in the North Street premises vacated by Lolly Lou hair and beauty salon.
A move in the opposite direction is in the offing for Oxfam, which is expected to relocate to the South Street premises last used by Lloyds Pharmacy. Its North Street shop will sell books and records only. The former chemist has been given a facelift over the past two weeks in readiness.
The former Martin’s newsagent has also been refurbished for a new tenant.
In Jackson Square, the Body Shop is closing on Saturday, February 9, while in South Street, Steamer Trading cookshop has been taken over by ProCook, which already has an outlet at Freeport in Braintree.
It was bought out of administration by the rival kitchenware retailer, saving 330 jobs in a deal for 27 stores and the brand’s e-commerce business.
